Packaging A Different Dimension

Not only does this product sport pink packaging and a pink ribbon, what’s inside is good for you too.

I like this concept where as there are some other products in pink that are not so healthy. Multi dimensional selling and in this case killing two birds with one stone. It’s really hard to see the ribbon though.

I like the fact that 50% of the proceeds are donated and you can choose your charity.

Is this a purchasing influencer for women?

Will Pink Packaging And P/O/P Sell Products?

I’m loving some of these breast cancer awareness slogans. Its amazing how creative we can get. All this pink is causing some what of a backlash though terms like “pinkwashing”, Think Before You Pink, “pinkoverload” and more. It’s just like every other well know packaging campaign There Are Two Sides To Every Packaging Story

What’s your opinion are we being indoctrinated with Pink Packaging this month. Is the negativity of the pink breast cancer campaigns outweighing the positive results?

A great example of this lesson is Frito-Lay’s partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure: We’re donating $1 million to fund educational materials for early detection and prevention of breast cancer.  In addition, we’re launching an in-store program in which our displays feature pink ribbon packaging on SunChips and Baked! Lay’s, and offer materials encouraging women to “Be Fearless” in the fight against breast cancer.

Will Pink Plastic Make A Difference?

By now I’m sure you all have seen a plethora of pink breast cancer products in the stores.  Take heart that its usually only for the month of October in support of a worth cause.  Color is one of the differentiators of product on the shelf. But what happens when everything is pink? Will we be in a sea of pink overload? A lot of people think so, especially men. But since women are the 80% influencer or purchaser marketers are catering to them.

Personally I love the concept of pink plastic. It makes everything look softer. Whether it will jump out off the shelf and induce me to buy remains to be seen. I need to check this category on the shelf.

Stay tuned for more details.

During month of October, when you purchase one of Palmer’s PINK products, proceeds of the sale will go to Breast Cancer Society of Canada. (I wonder how much?)

Pets Can Go Pink For Breast Cancer Too!

I love cats. I had one expire at 21 1/2 years old. I would definitely buy this Purina pink ribbon packaging.

But the important lesson is pets don’t buy packaging people do.

It’s packaging that connects with consumers regardless of the species

If you are a cat lover will this packaging make you support this cause?

Social Media And Pink Breast Cancer Packaging

Here’s a campaign that seems to make sense since we all know fish is good for you (unlike some other products we have pictured). This is using two methodologies to get the word out about supporting breast cancer awareness.

The social media applications uses by the packaging industry seem to be very limited although are well endorsed by other industries. A successful social media campaign was run by Eight O’Clock coffee that helped them redesign their product packaging. (Eight O’Clock Coffee Packaging Makeover Sweepstakes, which was timed to coincide with the brand’s 150th Anniversary. During that online promotion, fans of Eight O’Clock Coffee voted for their choice of two new bag designs.)

Pink Ribbon Packaging For Breast Cancer Awareness

During the month of October, for every new person who “likes” us on Facebook or signs up to receive our monthly eNewsletter on gortons.com, we will donate $0.50 to Susan G. Komen For the Cure® on his or her behalf (up to a total of $10,000).

Got more pink packaging examples to share? Peeps are sending me some great pictures to use in the monthly packaging for breast cancer campaign.

What I like about this package (besides the pink ribbon) that its resealable too. The box of fish sticks I buy is a PIA to keep closed. I hope all fish stick packaging goes this route,
